The Wind from Seattle Vol.45

We have a record-breaking heat wave this summer. The temperature goes over 30 degrees in Celsius for days and this is quite unusual for Seattle. Yet, thanks to the low humidity, I don't have to sweat as long as I stay in the shade and the wind blows a little. Because I missed water, I rented a canoe at the lakeside of the University of Washington. I decided to row as close as the island because I thought I might be beaten by the intense sunshine. While I was enjoying the beautiful cluster of lotus flowers, these friendly quacking ducks approached me to swim together.

On the way, I found a big beaver's nest. I also found pretty flowers and took a deep breath. I cruised slowly enjoying the green nature in the summer lake. The lake water was colder than I expected and the cool wind carrying the scent of leaves and grasses felt so pleasant.

Because I had heard about a secret channel on the other side of the sandbank, I canoed around the island to see this surrealistic world. The wind was chilly, but the water surface looked like a polished mirror instead of getting waves. I felt as if I were canoeing in the space between the upper and lower forests.

After a little wile, the forests disappeared and I saw this bright colorful view that I am familiar. I somehow felt relieved to see a family enjoying hiking. Anyway, summer is also great for doing things like what I did this time. Next time, I will bring a lunch box and explore more.

In a small world captured through the lens, there're many stories that we cannot see with the naked eye. And, every time I look closely at the image, I think of different stories according to mood. I can get people there. Or, I can add winds and scents. Imagination is my way to play with photography.

These days I attach a telephoto lens to my sub camera. Once I fix the focus, I can quickly shoot my favorite scenes across the street. And, like that I can define the main theme clearly.

The fantasy novel "The Boy with Golden Eyes" has continued to have the fifth volume now. I have been supporting them hoping that the Japanese version will be published. However, it hasn't become a reality yet because they say it's hard for this kind of genre to have a success in Japan. Looking at this photo, I feel they are already in a fantasy and it may be because of the inspiration of Marjorie. I hope the book will be popular worldwide like Harry Potter and The Load of the Rings in the near future. From the observers' right, the author (Marjorie Young), Sammy (the hero, Rupert), Lucie (Lira), and Daisy.

Both Lucie and Sammy are growing to be sound young people just like they are in the novel.

Happy stand talking with friends. I don't know what they were talking about, but they all talked and listened, and no one dominated. Somehow they seemed to be classmates who gathered after so long. After this, they went into a restaurant right next to them. I estimated the amount of their talking would be almost equal to the one of mine for a year, if they continued to talk in that pace. I was deeply impressed by their energy.

What a great mood they have! At first I tried to shoot without being noticed by them, but our eyes met. So, I greeted them briefly. They asked me if my camera was a film camera and I got their permission to photograph them. This is cute Stephanie and her boyfriend (Sorry, I forgot your name!).

I had a mechanic come to my home to repair around the radiator. I looked into his toolbox and found these tools which are supposedly used for along time with a great care. By looking at these tools shining dully and emitting the smell of oil, I could tell his skills and diligence. Maybe for ladies, they just appear to be old dirty smelly tools. Ha ha ha. Ouch! I think I got hit by a lady! :p
