It’s worth the investment. Leica used to have the TRI-ELMAR 28-35-50mm. I don’t know why they discontinued it, but the performance at each focal length was comparable to the prime lenses of the same focal lengths. The same goes for this lens and it really is a great one. Of course, the largest aperture is darker, but we usually stop down 1 to 2 f-stops anyway, except when shooting indoor. Not to mention, in this digital age we can always raise ISO. Plus, you don’t have to buy and carry three lenses. This one was released after the digital M camera was released, it’s extremely sharp wide open in all focal lengths (I even feel it’s a little too sharp). This would be the best choice to shoot wide landscape.
