Seattle, the nearest CONUS city to Japan, is located in the State of Washington with an intricate inlet called Puget Sound and lakes dotting all the way to the Columbia River at the State boarder. The surrounding water makes Seattle a great place to spend free time. In a morning of September whose temperature was dropping down dramatically, I saw a deep fog way down there. People who finished walking started to gather in the beach at low tide by twos and threes.
It's breathtakingly beautiful when the sun started to shine from between the deep fogs. The surrounding was still bluish and only the ocean surface starts to twinkle in pale red. This brilliance is brighter than the highest-grade jewel.
I can spend my time quietly and freely deep inside the inlet because not many people come into such local spot even on weekends.
This wide shoal must be a part of the child's daily living area. Just how innocent she looks when she walks on the glass looking for small fish! I noticed myself smiling naturally when taking this shot.
I saw salmon fly fishing for the first time. Because of the artistic casting forming a beautiful arch. After the fly danced in the air several times, the salmon on a hook crisscrosses and the rod bows. This battle continues for a while.
What Mr. Charlie pulled was a beautiful 60cm-long silver salmon (Coho Salmon). "You wanna try it?" "I love salmon." "You can have it." "Really? Thank you so much!" After returning home, I broiled it with salt for dinner. Of course, it was fatty, sweet, aromatic, and full of seal alga minerals. In other words, I enjoyed it to my heart's content.
When it gets dark, the atmosphere becomes like a cold village in Northern Europe. Actually, I heard that many descendants of Norwegian immigrants live in this area.
After the sunset, the silhouettes of the mountains look as if they had melted into the haze. At last, they disappeared into the darkening sky.
There're many gulfs surrounded by the shelving hills and each inlet has their port towns of various sizes. When I stop my car and open the window, the special air with a scent of the tide comes inside and it makes feel so romantic.
From Seattle, Port Townsend is located about 70km away to the North West in a straight line. And in the central town, there're many houses built around a century ago. They survive for generations by changing walls and repainting. And, the way the passerby dresses match the historical building.
Feeling as if I were slipping back in time, I followed her and found she was a tarot fortune-teller. What a perfect match. She said she lives in the shed she built by herself and there's another world inside it. I really believe what she said.
The truck matches the town. Unlike in Japan, there's no strict car inspection in the States. So, people drive cars no matter how old they are. Me? I'm old, too. Ha ha!
"One languid afternoon, a young stranger came into the harbor with a whirring sound of the small motor." He came here for some reasons and is destined to encounter a woman with a yellow flower-patterned dress. She rode her bicycle into the fishing boat to deliver a night meal to her father who was going out fishing. But, he has a secret in his past... I just created a prologue of a romantic mystery. I truly love a scene like this.
