The Biogon is a wide angle lens created by the genius Dr. Ludwig Bertele. This is another legendary lens brought back to life in the 21st century – it inherits the original lens design, while it fully integrates with TTL exposure metering. In short, this lens has the typical naturalness of old lenses. The corners get darker gradually and it’s not as sharp as other modern razor sharp lenses. Lines are thin and delicate, and the bokeh is not dramatic. Since I cannot get the original Biogon brand new, I cannot make a rigorous comparison between the original and this new one. So, I just have to assess the new one only with no other references and as they say it’s the Biogon, distortion is almost free and it doesn’t have the strange over-exaggeration of wideness. It’s just natural and I start liking it little by little. It’s much more compact than the Leica’s, so you can use it for your everyday shooting. While Leica is “asphericalizing” their line up, the C Biogon would be a tasteful choice.
