In the middle of a slump.

It's been quite a while since my last post. Have you forgot about it? Of course, you haven't. I'm terribly sorry to keep you waiting for so long, but it's just that I can't shoot well. I've been a photographer for years, but I've been in a slump for a long time. But, this may be something every photographer experiences some day.

(Photography, Text : Z II)

Although you may feel differently looking at this shot, but I'm familiar to this location and I just shot it without thinking very much. I didn't choose to compose this way, but I just reacted to the bustle. I really don't know what I wanted to shoot.

I wanted to get closer to the earnest shoe polisher and his tools, but I wasn't able to get close and just shot. Even though I couldn't get closer, why didn't I think about stepping back then?

I often feel puzzled when I look at my shots at home.

Photography reflects emotional state.

Let me try to explain why I can't shoot or why my photos don't have messages.
In the end, to take an amazing shot, I must be amazed by the subject first. Plus, without knowing how to photograph the scene, the image doesn't speak at all. No matter how skillful a photographer is, s/he cannot photograph without feeling touched and knowing the methodology to let the image speak about the emotion.

I get nice reactions on my family photos, and I think it's because I love the subjects. This is my daughter who used to snivel in the sample shots by the Pentax equipment I tested for the past shooting reports. Now, she grew up like this.

I feel that recently I was taking photos because I have to and I wasn't shooting what truly moves my heart. For example, when I was using a wide angle lens which I'm bad at, I was just focusing on overcoming my weakness. And, now, I think I know what to do a little better.

The best prescription for uplifting?

First, try to feel you already have got out of a slump. Second, get a new equipment! A new lens automatically refreshes our mind and raise desire for shooting. Hit the iron while it's hot... no, I've already bought it (of course, by installments).
What I got is the Carl Zeiss Biogon 28mm F2.8 and I will talk about it next time.
