The SUMMARIT series was released with the Leica M8. It consists of four lenses: 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 90mm, all with a maximum aperture of f2.5. They are more affordable than other Leica lenses because of the modest maximum aperture. If you are looking for some modern lenses, you may be interested in 35mm or 50mm. Everyone admires large aperture lenses, but in practice, you often stop down in the daytime and the size gets bigger as the aperture becomes larger. Therefore, this SUMMARIT becomes your lens for everyday use. The pciture is delicate and the contrast is just moderate. The bokeh is very much like non-aspheric and natural. Distortion is almost nonexistent and above all else, it’s compact. Such features are the endowments for an everyday lens. Just one thing I was disappointed is the Focus distance, which is 80cm. Could they try to make it 10cm shorter? Anyway, as a salesperson, what if I say the following. Old lens users often comment, “modern lenses just don’t have their taste.” (more objectively, all non-Leica lenses don’t have their “taste” compared to the tasteful Leica old lenses) The Focus distance of old 50mm lenses is 1m, so I recommend this lens to those who are used to this distance. The picture is classic enough, but not so “dangerous” as the pictures taken with the old lenses. And if you like the old lenses, you have an appreciation of smaller maximum aperture. I’d like to recommend this lens to those who want to take a look at the world of modern lenses. Of course, this is a fantastic yet tasteful lens for those who want to start using Leica.
